New Incoming President of Women in Banking and Finance

02 Nov 2021

Women in Banking and Finance is announcing the retirement of our long-serving President, Ms Julie Hunter, who will step down effective 1st November 2021.

We would like to thank Julie for her wonderful contribution to WiBF over the last 10 years, where she helped to shape WiBF into the organisation it is today. Julie will be remembered for her passionate commitment to driving gender diversity and in particular expanding the pipeline of women in leadership roles across the banking and finance industry.

“WiBF has been a passion project of mine for the past decade and over that time has evolved from a small but thriving community into a diverse corporate member base of over 60 corporate members spanning the banking and finance sector”, Ms Hunter commented.

It’s been a pleasure to serve our members as President and leave the post knowing that WiBF has made a positive impact on the careers of thousands of women during my tenure. I’m excited for the future of WiBF under the direction of the incoming President, Board and management team. I would also like to thank the many colleagues and Board members, past and present, for their inspiring commitment to diversity and inclusion, and also for their friendship.”

Incoming President, Ms Sangeeta Venkatesan is no stranger to WiBF having served on the Board since 2017. Ms Venkatesan is Chair of WiBF Corporate Member, FairVine Super, and brings experience working within banking, broking, markets and advisory roles across the industry.

“Having been involved with Women in Banking and Finance for almost as long as I have lived in Australia, my journey with WiBF is close to my heart. I follow in the line of remarkable leadership by Julie, and thank the board for entrusting me with this important role, and feel privileged to be representing the members as the incoming President”,
said Ms Venkatesan.

“Much has happened in the last 18 months, and not only have we continued to innovate and offer top-quality service to our members, we have thrived in these unprecedented times, and today have the highest member-base in history. I have no doubt that we will continue to support our members whilst upkeeping our core values, under the strong leadership of Jen and Diana.”

We invite members to join us in thanking both our outgoing and incoming Presidents for their contribution to the Membership.
