Overview

Join CEO, Sophie McCarthy and Director of Coaching and Leadership, Tessa Sexton from McCarthy Mentoring for an interactive discussion about the important role of mentoring in a successful executive life.

Tessa and Sophie have worked together for the past decade to deliver mentoring and leadership programs to leading Australian companies, not for profits and government agencies to retain and develop their most valuable people. The company’s purpose is to inspire and enable current and emerging leaders to perform at their best. Some of their clients include IAG, Woolworths, Qantas, Energy Developments, Life Without Barriers, Stockland, NSW Pathology. A distinguishing factor of McCarthy Mentoring is its unparalleled network of over 100 Australian & globally based coaches and mentors who have held senior executive roles in a range of industries and bring practical perspectives, experience and wisdom to their clients.

Global research and evidence from McCarthy programs show clear impacts on participants' confidence, networks, career goals and leadership skills. “We know that people who are well mentored earn more, get promoted faster and find their careers and lives more enjoyable”. Tessa and Sophie will share their insights on the issues and challenges that keep executives up at night and how a valuable mentor can support you to manage them.

The webinar is presented by Sophie McCarthy who is the owner and Chief Executive of McCarthy Mentoring, a Sydney based consulting group that works globally with organisations to inspire and develop their emerging and current leaders. During this webinar, Sophie will be interviewed by her colleague, Tessa Sexton.

In this session, Sophie and Tessa will explore:
1. Goal setting - Setting goals is the first step in our program, it gives you a long term vision and short term motivation.
2. Strengths and abilities - Being an authentic and successful leader is about having an awareness of your own strengths, values and purpose. Can you identify your strengths and blind spots?
3. Career planning - what do you want from your career, what is your dream role, what’s your plan to get there?
4. Profile and network - The thought of networking makes some people recoil in horror, but networking is about building and strengthening relationships and successful people have strong networks.
5. Effective leadership – what does good look like and how would you describe your own leadership style?
6. Wellbeing - Managing your wellbeing and strengthening your resilience is important for your health and how you lead a team. Are you making your wellbeing a priority?
