Becoming an Inclusive Leader is a new 7-module WiBF education program in 2019 delivered on a flexible online and on-demand format that will appeal to middle managers and people leaders seeking to harness the benefits of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Designed by Edyta Torpy of IN-CLUSION, this program will introduce WiBF members to the benefits, challenges and practicalities of becoming an inclusive leader over 7 online modules:
Module 1 – The business case for diversity and inclusion
Module 2 – What is an inclusive leader?
Module 3 – The roadblocks to inclusion
Module 4 – What to look out for
Module 5 – Common effects of unconscious bias
Module 6 – The road to success
Module 7 – Practice makes perfect
The seven modules take one hour to complete and can be undertaken sequentially with progress saved as each module is undertaken, enabling participants to complete the training all in one session or to exit and pick up where they left off at a later date. Modules are accompanied with course handouts and a learning guide that can be retained for future reference.
This online program incorporates all the fundamentals in one place to provide participants with a solid base knowledge of diversity and inclusion from a leadership perspective.
Becoming an Inclusive Leader was developed by Edyta Torpy, an Inclusion and Diversity specialist with over 20 years of senior executive experience working with some of Australia’s most well-known and respected organisations. Edyta has been the Director of Diversity and Inclusion at EY Oceania as well as the General Manager of Group Diversity at the Commonwealth Bank, where she led complex diversity and inclusion strategies that sought to alleviate the systemic issues to inclusive work practices. Edyta has also consulted to organisations such as nbn, AMP, Salvos Legal, Allianz and Orix to help create cultures that increase both engagement and productivity.
Edyta sees inclusion as being a leadership opportunity and a business strategy which empowers individuals and creates better business outcomes for organisations. Edyta’s experience and drive has been instrumental in helping organisations launch new approaches to gender equity, embedding flexible work practices, developing bias-free people processes, mitigating the impacts of bias and alleviating the roadblocks which keep people from meeting their full potential.
