Jim Freeman is a Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer for Deutsche Bank Australia, based in Sydney. He is also Head of Non-Financial Risk Management (NFRM) for Deutsche Bank Asia Pacific. As Chief Risk Officer for DB Australia, he is responsible for the Risk function comprising Credit, Market & Non-Financial Risk. As the Head of NFRM APAC, he is responsible for developing & implementing the framework & tools for the management of Non-Financial Risk across the Asia-Pacific business. Within this role, he has direct responsibility for business continuity, technology risk, transaction processing risk, data & record management, third party risk, physical security, benchmark governance, product governance & reputational risk.
Jim worked in the industry for 32 years and has been at Deutsche Bank for 26 years. In his prior role, Jim ran the First Line of Defence for Deutsche Bank’s Fixed Income, Equities & Corporate Finance businesses in Asia-Pacific as the Divisional Control Officer. He was responsible for developing and enhancing the first line controls and managing conduct risk across the regional franchise. Prior to that Jim held a number of COO roles including CB&S Non-Japan Asia from Singapore, Global COO for Structuring & Global COO for Commodities both based in London.
Early in his career, Jim started at Deutsche Bank in the Sydney office in technology & business management roles. Prior to that he worked for UBS (in Hong Kong), Salomon Brothers (in London) & HSBC (in Sydney) in Finance roles. He started his career at Price Waterhouse after completing a Bachelor of Economics at the University of Sydney.
